Coloured hand drawn maps produced by a commission established in 1809 to investigate the bogs of Ireland and report on the 'practicability of draining and cultivating them'. District 8 South covers the bogs lying north of the Slieve Ardagh hills up to Templetuohy and were surveyed by David Aher in 1811.
