Black and white image of Brittas Castle outside Thurles. View from the avenue. The castle was built around 1830 by Major Henry Langley but remained unfinished when Langley was killed by falling masonry on site in 1834. It was intended to be archaeologically correct and included a dungeon and a working moat.(information from www.buildingsofireland.ie). Brittas Castle (House) single storey country house built c.1860 in the background. 15 February 1919
